Photo: Charles Howells Drawing on inherent Kiwi ingenuity and his determination to achieve perfection, John Bell worked with plastic technologist Mick Gallichan to develop ball after ball after ball - each one more refined than the last.

Prototypes were put to the test by players of all levels of ability - from absolute beginners to the most senior local and international High Goalers. The ideal ball would be one that works for everyone, not just a select few.

John asked players what they thought about the feel and sound, the ability of the ball to retain its integrity during a hard game, and about consistency, such as whether each ball performed in an expected and uniform manner.

Eventually, one ball was the stand-out winner. Only then was the kiwipolo.co.nz logo applied.

Although kiwipolo started manufacturing their polo balls in 2001, already they have gained a keen following for their product in polo playing countries around the world.
