Attracted to the game for its fast action and strategic complexity, John quickly developed a life long passion for polo. In New Zealand polo circles, he is also well known as a commentator.

In recent years, John has been keeping his eye on the ball for other reasons. While thinking about what makes a great polo ball, and the problems that polo players frequently experience, he hunted down a high tech plastics manufacturer and began to talk balls.

When he realised that the necessary manufacturing technology was only seven kilometres from his Matangi farm, John's task became clear.
"I wanted to create a superior polo ball that flew straight, sounded right and took the hits while still retaining it's shape. I believe we have achieved that goal with the kiwipolo balls."
